I spent some time at Tenaya Lake in Yosemite a few days before I had to leave and wanted to return because the image I had made in the prior days wasn't what I saw as the full potential. I left Lee Vining at 5:00 a.m. and traveled to the shore side before morning light. I took a series of photos, each the result of different lighting. None had anything but a morning sky to present. The quiet lake

We often lose the small details in nature as we walk through forests, trails and meadows. This image was found on the side of Tenaya Lake in Yosemite in mid-morning light. While there are many features around the lake including some famous views, I found this image to be particularly interesting and graphic in its simplicity. Hasselblad X2D and XCD 35-75mm

I first saw this scene in the harsh afternoon light and returned the next day only to find that the light was too bright even in the morning. I woke early the next morning before sunrise and waited for the perfect mix of color from the sun reflecting off the mountains is it rose behind me.

There is a certain sense of inner peace found when sitting by a grove of aspens. In a gentle wind the leaves produce a glass-like chime like no other sound in nature. The little evergreen hidden in the grove was particularly humorous and I wondered if it would be given a chance to soar among its fellow trees.

Mono Lake is a favorite site in California Yosemite area and the edge of the lake has provided inspiration to many photographers. This image presented itself after hours of wandering the shoreline. It is a lesson in letting the images come to you.

The abandoned mining town in Bodie, CA has many stories. When it was closed and all inhabitants asked to leave in 1962, it was common to take only what was necessary leaving behind as trash what days before was furniture, cups and family heirlooms. To think that weeks before that, people were living in this home now untouched for 60+ years.
